Small Justice was screened at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston as part of their special film series on women filmmakers. It was also screened at the Coolidge Corner Theater as part of the Boston Film and Video Foundation’s "Meet the Director Series," and selections were shown at the NOW National Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota and at the NOW National Conference in Washington, D.C. The companion web site, www.smalljustice.com, has become a resource for battered women who are seeking to protect their children from abusive fathers. Before producing Small Justice, Garland produced numerous documentaries and specials as a Special Projects Producer at WBZ-TV in Boston. Several of her documentaries were sold to the Arts and Humanities for national educational videos. (Rape: An Act of Hate, Suffer the Little Children, Kids and Drugs: A High Price to Pay, and A Family Secret: Adult Children of Alcoholics). She also produced the 26 part series Your Child 6-12, Rose Kennedy: An Intimate Portrait, and The Kennedy Women: An Intimate Portrait for Lifetime Television. Currently Garland is executive producing Lia, a TV series on girls, science and technology. www.liaonline.com. This is a multi-platform media project which includes a TV series, a book series, a mall tour and a museum exhibit as well as educational materials for classrooms across America. As a professor at Boston University in the College of Communication, Waller teaches several TV producing classes as well as children's television. She also created Hothouse Productions, a class that operates as a production company with students completing client-driven programs and videos. Garland Waller, was at one time the co-founder and president of Pink Bubble Productions, based in Concord, Massachusetts, produced children’s videos and books including Concert in Angel-Land, a nationally award-winning music video for pre-schoolers which originally aired on WCVB and is currently being distributed by MVP Home Entertainment. She co-authored Drawing Angels Near, published by Simon and Schuster/Pocket Books, November 1995, which was a Literary Guild and Crossings Book Club selection. Excerpts appeared in Family Circle and Woman's World. Garland Waller has been a contributor to on line sites, including womensenews.org, the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund web site and the Family Education Network. As president of the Board of Directors for Troubadour, an arts and literacy project in the many Massachusetts elementary schools, Ms. Waller is committed to quality educational programs for all children. Ms. Waller received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia and her master’s degree from Boston University’s College of Communication.
